“Love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ “This is the first and great commandment. Matthew 22:37-38
It’s called worship, but it doesn’t happen just once a week in a service. Worship is about loving God with our all, all the time. It’s about giving all of who we are to all of who He is and loving Him passionately and living for Him with integrity.
“And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:39
Every person is a unique and special creation of God, and therefore, has intrinsic worth and purpose. Because people matter to God, they matter to us. We place a high value on every person by loving them like Christ loves us and receiving them the way Christ receives us. This is the primary way we reveal we are His children.
“As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15
The family is the first human institution God ordained. The fabric of any healthy society is directly attached to the health of the family in that society. Therefore, we place a high value on building strong godly homes by focusing on God’s design for marriage, parenting, grandparenting, singles, etc. We believe this will in build a strong, godly church that will impact the world.
…Christ loved the church and gave His life for it… -Ephesians 5:25
Because God has placed a high value on the church, so do we. The church is made up of those who have trusted Christ as Savior and have been transformed by God’s grace and adopted into His family (John 1:12). The church is the primary place where God works out His purpose in the world and in people’s lives. We believe active participation in the church advances God’s purpose and is essential in the spiritual growth of His people. Through the church, we worship, grow in our faith, share life (good & bad), care for each other, serve, give and make a difference in the world.
Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving. -Colossians 4:2
We believe prayer is essential to the health and growth of the church. The church was born in prayer and grew and was empowered by God through prayer. Therefore, we pray like everything depends on God and work like everything depends on us.
For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. –Philippians 1:21
Being a disciple of Jesus means more than church attendance. It is the goal of bringing all of life under the lordship of Jesus Christ through the development process of moving from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity and then reproducing that process in others. Discipleship is not about going to heaven, but becoming like the One taking you to heaven.
“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. –Mark 16:15
We believe lost people matter to God and that He wants wants everyone to know the Good News of Jesus Christ. He has given this responsibility to His children who are to be actively sharing their faith with people within their daily influence, as well as those around the world. We value mission by recognizing wherever we are, we are on mission with God and for God. We also value mission by actively giving and going on mission with God.
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11
We are committed to discovering and putting to use our unique, God-given gifts and abilities to encourage and help others and bring glory to God.
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
God is generous. The culmination of His generosity was when He gave His Son on the cross as a payment for our sins so He could pour grace over us and make us His own. To experience that grace means not only being transformed in what we receive, but in what we give. One of the ways we are most like God is when we give generously and sacrificially. Therefore, we value the blessings of generosity in all areas of life. (time, talents, tithe)
I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
We desire to be true to God’s Word and relevant to our culture. This means striving to be innovative, creative, practical, excellent and uncompromising in presenting the truth of God’s unchanging Word to an ever-changing culture.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
Our God is an excellent God (Ps. 8:1). His love is an excellent love (1 Cor. 13). And His creation is an excellent creation (Gen. 1:31). Everything God is and does is excellent, and as His children everything we do should be done with excellence. Whether it is worshipping, serving, giving, loving, working, etc. it should be done with excellence for His glory.
